Crystal healing is a pseudoscientific alternative medicine technique that uses semiprecious stones and crystals such as quartz, amethyst or opals. Adherents of the technique claim that these have healing powers, although there is no scientific basis for this claim

In one method, the practitioner places crystals on different parts of the body, often corresponding to chakras; or else the practitioner places crystals around the body in an attempt to construct an energy grid, which is purported to surround the client with healing energy. Despite this, scientific investigations have not validated claims that chakras or energy grids actually exist, nor is there any evidence that crystal healing has any greater effect upon the body than any other placebo; for these reasons it is considered a pseudoscience.

Yoga nidra (Sanskrit: योग निद्रा) or yogic sleep) is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, like the "going-to-sleep" stage. It is a state in which the body is completely relaxed, and the practitioner becomes systematically and increasingly aware of the inner world by following a set of verbal instructions.

Chakra balancing is based on the ancient Indian belief in a series of seven chakras, or energy centers. Chakra is the Sanskrit word for wheel. ... Chakra balancing is believed to promote health by maximizing the flow of energy in the body, much as a tune-up enables a car to operate at peak efficiency.

Chakra healing is an old method to cleanse chakras. ... Everything around us contains energy that can be absorbed by the energy fields within us through the energy centers called chakras. These chakras are connected to all the vital organs and glands of the body.

Here are 7 signs that you could have blocked chakras:
  • Difficulty concentrating. The third eye chakra provides energy for the intellect and our ability to see the truth. ...
  • Sleep problems. ...
  • Feeling helpless. ...
  • Not being able to express yourself. ...
  • Lacking motivation. ...
  • Closing yourself off to others. ...
  • Not being able to accomplish goals.

Reiki is an energy healing treatment that works holistically; on the whole body, mind and spirit. Not a system of religious beliefs, Reiki is simply a relaxing treatment whereas natural healing vibrations are transmitted through the hands of a Reiki practitioner (acting as a conduit) to the body of the recipient.

A typical session of Reiki lasts for about 90 minutes at maximum. After the Reiki session most people undergoing the treatment feel relaxed and experienced reduced stress soon after the treatment. However sometimes it may take more than one session to experience the effects of Reiki.

Reiki is alleged to aid relaxation, assist in the body's natural healing processes, and develop emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. It is also said to induce deep relaxation, help people cope with difficulties, relieve emotional stress, and improve overall wellbeing.

Pranic healing requires no physical touch. Pranic healing is a three-step process in which it accelerates the body's inner healing ability to heal at all levels like physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Reiki healing also works on this idea of universal energy.

Pranic Healing is an energy “no-touch” healing system based on the fundamental principle that the body has the innate ability to heal itself. Pranic Healing utilizes “life force,” “energy,” or prana to accelerate the body's inborn ability to heal itself. It is practiced by hundreds of thousands across the world.

Reiki and pranic both are energy healing system. Though both use different techniques, they use the same source of energy to heal. The main technique used in pranic is cleansing and energizing whereas in reiki the practitioner channelises divine energy. ... Same stands true for Reiki or pranic healing.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a self-help technique that involves tapping near the end points of “energy meridians” located around the body in order to reduce tension and promote a deeper mind-body connection. This technique goes by a few different names, including Emotional Freedom Technique, EFT Tapping or simply Tapping. According to the EFT Universe website, “EFT has been researched in more than 10 countries, by more than 60 investigators, whose results have been published in more than 20 different peer-reviewed journals”, which include the Journal of Clinical Psychology, the APA journals Psychotherapy: Theory, Research, Practice, Training and Review of General Psychology.

One of the best things about EFT is that it can be done anywhere, at any time, quickly and without the use of any equipment, medications or supplements. What types of symptoms can EFT help to manage or prevent? People use EFT tapping techniques for:

  • Reducing short-term or chronic stress
  • Reducing muscular tension and joint pain
  • Decreasing fatigue and boosting energy levels
  • Decreasing tension headaches
  • Coping with emotional problems such as low self-esteem, depression, and anxiety
  • Improving athletic performance, focus and coordination
  • Helping to improve sleep quality

Past life regression is a technique that uses hypnosis to recover what practitioners believe are memories of past lives or incarnations, though others regard them as fantasies or delusions or a type of confabulation. Past-life regression is typically undertaken either in pursuit of a spiritual experience, or in a psychotherapeutic setting. Most advocates loosely adhere to beliefs about reincarnation, though religious traditions that incorporate reincarnation generally do not include the idea of repressed memories of past lives.

The technique used during past-life regression involves the subject answering a series of questions while hypnotized to reveal identity and events of alleged past lives, a method similar to that used in recovered memory therapy and one that, similarly, often misrepresents memory as a faithful recording of previous events rather than a constructed set of recollections. The use of hypnosis and suggestive questions can tend to leave the subject particularly likely to hold distorted or false memories. The source of the memories is often more likely cryptomnesia and confabulations that combine experiences, knowledge, imagination and suggestion or guidance from the hypnotist than recall of a previous existence. Once created, those memories are indistinguishable from memories based on events that occurred during the subject's life. Memories reported during past-life regression have been investigated, and revealed historical inaccuracies that are easily explained through a basic knowledge of history, elements of popular culture or books that discuss historical events. Experiments with subjects undergoing past-life regression indicate that a belief in reincarnation and suggestions by the hypnotist are the two most important factors regarding the contents of memories reported.

Couples therapy is a type of psychotherapy in which a therapist with clinical experience working with couples, most often a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist [LMFT], helps two people involved in a romantic relationship gain insight into their relationship, resolve conflict and improve relationship satisfaction utilizing a variety of therapeutic interventions. Although the practice of couples therapy may vary depending on the therapist’s theoretical orientation, all couples therapy tends to involve the following general elements:

  • A focus on a specific problem (i.e. sexual difficulties, Internet addiction, jealousy)
  • Active participation on the part of the therapist in treating the relationship itself, rather than each individual separately.
  • Solution-focused, change-oriented interventions early on in treatment.
  • A clear establishment of treatment objectives.

Couples therapy will usually begin with some standard interview questions regarding the history of the relationship as well as some exploration into each partner’s family-of-origin, values and cultural background. The therapist might use the initial sessions for crisis intervention if necessary.

The couples therapist will then assist the couple in identifying the issue that will be the focus of treatment, establishing treatment goals and planning a structure for treatment.

Meditation can benefit people who are ill or overwhelmed by stress. It also promotes well-being in healthy people. In general, people who meditate regularly experience less anxiety and depression. They also report more enjoyment and appreciation of life, as well as better social relationships. Meditation produces a state of deep relaxation and a sense of balance, or equanimity. According to Michael J. Baime in Essentials of Complementary and Alternative Medicine , meditation allows one to fully experience intense emotions without losing composure. The consequence of emotional balance is greater insight regarding one's thoughts, feelings, and actions. Insight, in turn, promotes confidence and awareness. Meditation also facilitates a greater sense of calmness, empathy, and acceptance of self and others.

Meditation is sometimes suggested as a complement to medical treatments of disease; in particular, it is an important complementary therapy for both the treatment and prevention of many stress-related conditions. Regular meditation may reduce the number of symptoms experienced by patients with a wide range of illnesses and disorders. Based upon clinical evidence, as well as theory, meditation is seen as an appropriate therapy for panic disorder , generalized anxiety disorder , substance dependence and abuse, ulcers, colitis, chronic pain, psoriasis, and dysthymic disorder—a disorder that involves a steady, depressed mood for at least two years. Moreover, meditation is a valuable adjunct therapy for moderate hypertension (high blood pressure), prevention of cardiac arrest (heart attack), prevention of atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), arthritis (including fibromyalgia), cancer, insomnia , migraine, and stroke . It is a complementary therapy for moderating allergies and asthma because it reduces stress, which is prevalent in these conditions. Additionally, meditation may improve function or reduce symptoms of patients with neurologic disorders such as Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, and epilepsy.

Used for thousands of years in China, acupressure applies the same principles as acupuncture to promote relaxation and wellness and to treat disease. Sometimes called pressure acupuncture, Acupressure is often thought of as simply acupuncture without the needles.

Difference between both therapies: Trigger point therapy involves the applying of pressure to tender muscle tissue in order to relieve pain and dysfunction while in acupressure therapy, pressure is applied for accessing and releasing blocked or congested energy centres in the body.

Most people try acupressure for the first time to manage symptoms of a condition, such as:
  • Cancer-related fatigue.
  • Headache.
  • Menstrual cramps.
  • Motion sickness.
  • Muscle tension and pain.
  • Nausea or vomiting after surgery or chemotherapy.
  • Nausea and vomiting during pregnancy and morning sickness.
  • Stress management.

It's a method of activating the body's self-healing mechanisms to treat illness and alleviate pain. Like acupuncture, which uses tiny needles, acupressure stimulates the body at certain meridians, or pressure points. ... One review found acupressure to be effective at reducing pain in nine of ten studies.

An important goal of Ayurveda is to identify a person’s unique prakriti – ideal state of balance, determine patterns of imbalance (vikriti), and offer interventions using suitable diet, herbs, aromatherapy, pancha-karma, massage treatments, music, yoga and meditation to reestablish inner balance and harmony.

During your Ayurvedic consultation, we will address your health concerns from a physical, emotional and spiritual perspective. Integrating the theoretical frameworks of Ayurveda and modern science, your session will focus as much on you as a unique individual who is facing a health challenge as on the health challenge itself.

During a typical evaluation, your Ayurvedic Consultant takes a complete medical and lifestyle history and performs a physical evaluation that looks at the body both as a physical system as well as a field of intelligence — reflecting the needs and choices of a person’s life. Based upon this assessment, a personalized body/mind/spirit health-enhancing prescription is formulated. This will include recommendations for diet, stress management, exercise, emotional healing, nutritional and herbal supplements, and sensory modulation.

Astrology is a pseudoscience that claims to divine information about human affairs and terrestrial events by studying the movements and relative positions of celestial objects. Astrology has been dated to at least the 2nd millennium BCE, and has its roots in calendrical systems used to predict seasonal shifts and to interpret celestial cycles as signs of divine communications. Many cultures have attached importance to astronomical events, and some—such as the Hindus, Chinese, and the Maya—developed elaborate systems for predicting terrestrial events from celestial observations. Western astrology, one of the oldest astrological systems still in use, can trace its roots to 19th–17th century BCE Mesopotamia, from which it spread to Ancient Greece, Rome, the Arab world and eventually Central and Western Europe. Contemporary Western astrology is often associated with systems of horoscopes that purport to explain aspects of a person's personality and predict significant events in their lives based on the positions of celestial objects; the majority of professional astrologers rely on such systems.

Throughout most of its history, astrology was considered a scholarly tradition and was common in academic circles, often in close relation with astronomy, alchemy, meteorology, and medicine. It was present in political circles and is mentioned in various works of literature, from Dante Alighieri and Geoffrey Chaucer to William Shakespeare, Lope de Vega, and Calderón de la Barca. Following the end of the 19th century and the wide-scale adoption of the scientific method, astrology has been challenged successfully on both theoretical and experimental grounds, and has been shown to have no scientific validity or explanatory power. Astrology thus lost its academic and theoretical standing, and common belief in it has largely declined. While polls have demonstrated that approximately one quarter of American, British, and Canadian people say they continue to believe that star and planet positions affect their lives, astrology is now recognized as a pseudoscience—a belief that is incorrectly presented as scientific.

Numerology involves simple math. All numbers have a personality trait, and Numerology describes how each number's qualities alter your experiences depending on where they appear, or if they appear, in your numerology chart. All numbers carry with them a specific vibration that affects everything from your personality and character traits, to life cycles, to your perception of life.

It is a language of numbers, letters, and symbols. Your name and date of birth symbolize your deepest inner being in a way that the rational mind cannot understand.

Numerology is based on the notion that everything is connected, and that everything exists in perfect synchronicity with everything else.

The birth name plays a crucial role in your life - it defines your destiny, but the short name you use (the name you use when you introduce yourself) affects the persona you give off to the world. If you change your name due to a marriage or adoption, this change will impact a part of your persona.

The Numbers reveal a lot of about a person, but more specifically, they illustrate your character, personality traits, innate drive, pinnacle life cycles, monthly cycles, yearly cycles, challenging cycles, and natural gifts.

For many of us, a "Tarot card reading" means a woman in flowing robes, leaning over a small table in a candlelit room, foretelling impending doom.

But that's not really what Tarot cards are about. In fact, they're not even really meant to tell your fortune or future. As the occult organization The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn says, "The most powerful sources of information come from within; the Tarot aids in coming in contact with one's Higher Self."

But what does that mean? In this article, we'll look at the various ideas about where Tarot cards come from, what they mean and how a deck of cards can possibly tell you anything about yourself. You'll learn why it matters where the cards fall and why you don't have to be a psychic to do a Tarot reading.

Speaking of readings, the first thing to know is that there actually are two different types of Tarot readings: question readings and open readings. In question readings, you are addressing a specific question. Tarot is not intended to answer specific yes or no questions. Most say it also shouldn't be used to make decisions, but instead should be used as a guide to help you make the decision yourself. For this reason, the way a question is stated is very important. Tarot reader and teacher Joan Bunning gives this advice:

Angelic Healing is a form of energy healing. We all have an energy system, which sometimes gets blocked during our daily lives. ... Energy Healing is like a shower for our energy system clearing away stuck energy. Angelic Healing works with the love and healing of the angels.

Angel Therapy is a non-denominational spiritual healing method that involves working with your guardian angels and archangels (kind of like the managers of the angel world). A particularly attune person can connect with angels through their own work.

An Angel Practitioner is a Psychic/Intuitive Light Worker that works closely with Archangels and Angels to help give advise and/or healing to others, animals, and the planet. ... Angels were created to help God or Source. Angel Practitioners may be any Spiritual/Religious domination. They are here to help Humankind.

The attunements are done by the Angelic Kingdom of Light and given to each individual by their own healing Angel. This is not the Angel that has come to them to do healings, it is the Angelic energy that creates the link for that person as a healer to the Angelic Kingdom. ... Angelic Reiki uses the Atlantean master symbol.

The Angel Of Healing. Archangel Raphael – his name means “God Who Heals” an he is the supreme healer. Also known as “The Divine Physician”. Archangel Raphael holds the divine healing energy.

Akashic Field Therapy (AFT) is a way to gain access to the vast information field around each of us. By accessing the Akashic Field directly we can gain key insights into traumatic issues that inhibit us from gaining greater growth and self-awareness.

Akashic Field Therapy is a tool that accesses an individual's Akashic Field in order to reveal what traumatic events from the past are creating limiting behaviors and emotional issues in the present. By revealing this information, a person can liberate these negative patterns consciously.

Any unresolved traumatic experiences can create repeating patterns of behavior, emotional blocks, irrational fears and negative beliefs. Traumatic memories create subconsious blocks. AFT can help you discover what is holding you back from accomplishing whatever your goals are. This method of quantum healing releases traumatic energies in order to free you to begin a new set of learning experiences instead of revisiting old ones.

Accessing information stored in the Akashic Field helps us bring our limiting programs and patterns to a greater awareness in our life now. By accessing this stored information, we can release anything that we have created that has become a block to our present growth and future potential.

Working with AFT as a personal growth and development tool, we gain a greater understanding of our addictive patterns, why we choose the relationships we do, what our habitual responses are and reveals the learning experiences or the reasons why we have chosen and created certain life experiences. This greater self awareness effectively promotes deeper self growth and positive action in our lives.

The American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA) defines dance/movement therapy as the psychotherapeutic use of movement to promote emotional, social, cognitive and physical integration of the individual. Dance/movement therapy is: Focused on movement behavior as it emerges in the therapeutic relationship.

  • Focused on movement behavior as it emerges in the therapeutic relationship. Expressive, communicative, and adaptive behaviors are all considered for group and individual treatment. Body movement, as the core component of dance, simultaneously provides the means of assessment and the mode of intervention for dance/movement therapy.
  • Practiced in mental health, rehabilitation, medical, educational and forensic settings, and in nursing homes, day care centers, disease prevention, health promotion programs and in private practice.
  • Effective for individuals with developmental, medical, social, physical and psychological impairments.
